Are these kits?
No, they are not kits. Our storage sheds, garden sheds and playhouses are hand-built, not mass produced. Every structure is unique. We can deliver them or build them on-site, no assembly required on your part. (That was easy!)

Do I need a permit?
That depends on your local county or city ordinances. Please check these before scheduling construction of your shed or other outdoor structure. Also, be sure to check your homeowner's association by-laws, some place restrictions on the size and type of structure you can build. Please check your property line setbacks.

What about waterproofing, painting and caulking of the structure?
All caulking and painting is the responsibility of the customer, normally it is raining or going to rain when we are there, a bead of caulk is required on all four corners where the siding meets the upright corner trim on both sides of the corner all gable windows and doors need A bead of caulk on top of the tram ,vintage windows need a bead of caulk All the way around the window on the face that touches the tram that raps the window and hold it in place on the outside , this prevents moisture from seeping in around the window and stops water from seeping in from the ends of the siding to the interior keeping the structure mostly dry until the lacquer ,stain ,or paint can be applied If interior is to be finished we recommend a vapor barrier before siding is installed.

Do I need a concrete slab or foundation?
Not unless you want one. Our sheds are built on 4' x 4' or 4' x 6' treated skids and supported by concrete pads or piers.

Where is the best area to place my shed?
You will need to have 2 ft of clearance between the sides of the shed any obstacles such as fences or walls. Be sure to check your local ordinances or homeowner’s association rules for any additional regulations on set back.

Do you do site prep work?
We ask that the site for the build be reasonably level and clean of any animal waste matter. There is an additional fee to clean, prep, level site.

How long does it take to build a shed?
Generally one day for smaller structures. Our larger structures may take two to three days.

Can I move my shed once it is built?
These are not permanent structures, so yes they can be moved. We would not advise doing it alone. Our playhouses can be moved with a little help from a few strong and willing friends or family. Our sheds are solid wood construction, so they are heavy and may require equipment to move them. I recommend keeping cold drinks and good food close at hand...

How do changes made to the buildingby the homeowners effect the warranty? 
Any addition, modifications , or adjustment made to the structure not approved by Millwork Cedar Sheds will void the structures warranty.

How do I care for my cedar shed?
Our sheds, playhouses and other outdoor structures are unfinished wood products that must be treated and caulked to maintain the warranty which is the customer's responsibility. We recommend a good coating of quality stain or polyurethane soon after the shed is built in order to maintain the condition and color of the wood. If you feel it necessary to paint the shed, you will want to use a quality primer first.

I don't see the size shed I need. Do you build different sizes?
All of our sheds, treehouses, play systems, decks or other structures can be customized to any size you need.

I have vintage or recycled doors and windows, can you use them on my shed?
For the most part, yes we can. We like being able to use recycled material any chance we can. We will need to know what size your windows or doors so we can design the storage shed or garden shed to fit what you have. These details can be worked out during a phone consultation with Dan.

How big should my chicken coop be?
Because your chickens will spend most of their time outside, 2 - 3 sq ft of space per chicken is sufficient. If you plan to keep them enclosed full time in an enclosed run, you will want to consider having 8 - 10 sq ft, including the run, per chicken. If you are looking a purchasing a smaller mobile chicken tractor, less space is necessary because you will be able to move them to new ground frequently. Dan has been raising farm animals all his life, so you can talk through spacing needs with him when you schedule the job.

Do you sell your siding?
This is probably our most frequent question. Sorry folks, the answer is no. We are so busy trying to keep up with our storage and garden shed orders, we do not have the time or the material on hand to mill custom siding for retail.
